The Red Dinghy is a remake as screenprint of one of a series of paintings of Okahu Bay boats. This colourful series exploded out of the experience of seeing Seurat’s ‘La Grande Jatte’ paintings on a trip to Chicago.
Seurat’s daring in his composition & colour gave me the courage needed to move a step away from preconceived ideas, “why not?” said the voice that strung me along.
Within the classified conventions of composition, I too could liberate colour.
